Spay
and Neuter
The
base prices quoted below for spaying or neutering are for
healthy dogs and cats. There is an additional charge for
animals that are in heat, pregnant, obese, or who have other
medical conditions. Prices include pre-operative examination
and sedative, anesthesia, anesthesia monitoring, sterile
surgery, nail trim, post-operative hospitalization, pain
medication, and suture removal for spays. We also recommend
pre-anesthesia blood work for healthy pets to check liver
and kidney function, and to check for infection, anemia,
and clotting disorders. These tests are strongly recommended
for sick animals, and are required for all pets who are
older than 10 years of age. We require all animals that
come in to be spayed or neutered to have current vaccinations
for rabies and distemper, as well as kennel cough for dogs.
If your pet is not up to date on his/her vaccinations, they
will be given at the time of surgery. If your pet has had
vaccinations at another veterinary hospital, please bring
those records with you, so that we will not have to repeat
them. Pets must also be free of fleas in order to stay with
us. If your pet is found to have fleas, we will treat it
for a minimal fee.
The
age to be spayed or neutered is 6 months old.
